Pneumatic Cylinder Force Calculator

Accurately Calculate Cylinder Force for Your Application

Understanding the force exerted by a pneumatic cylinder is crucial for selecting the appropriate cylinder size, ensuring efficient operation, and achieving optimal performance. Our Pneumatic Cylinder Force Calculator helps you determine the force based on cylinder pressure, diameter, and type with ease.

How to use:

  1. Select Cylinder Type: Choose Single-acting or Double-acting.

  2. Select Pressure Unit: Choose Pascals (Pa) or Pounds per Square Inch (psi).

  3. Enter Cylinder Pressure (P): Input the pressure. If in psi, it converts to Pascals.

  4. Enter Cylinder Diameter (D): Provide the diameter in millimeters.

  5. Enter Rod Diameter (d) (Double-Acting Only): Input the rod diameter in millimeters.

  6. Calculate Force: Press "Calculate Force" to see the result in Newtons (N).

  7. Reset: Use "Reset" to clear inputs and start over.

Benefits:

  • Accurate Force Calculation: Ensures the cylinder meets your specific force requirements.

  • Optimised Energy Usage: Helps select the right cylinder size to minimise energy waste.

  • Versatile Applications: Suitable for a wide range of industrial, mechanical, and pneumatic systems.

  • User-Friendly Interface: Simple, quick, and reliable results for engineers, technicians, and hobbyists.

Double-Acting Pneumatic Cylinder Force Calculation Diagram

Double-acting pneumatic cylinder force calculation diagram showing extend and retract force formulas using piston and rod area

Illustrated example showing how to calculate extend and retract force for a double-acting pneumatic cylinder using piston diameter, rod diameter, operating pressure and efficiency. The diagram demonstrates the formulas for piston area and the difference between extension and retraction force due to the piston rod area.
